• AVERY GERHARDT

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, DRAMATURG

    Avery (she/her) is the founder and resident choreographer for Motlee Party. With this collaborative, Avery seeks to find innovate approaches to making performance art. She has performed works by Roderick George, Margot Gelber, Zoe Scofield, Asia Pyron, and Taylor Rodman. Her works have been presented internationally in Italy, Germany, Poland, and across the United States. She is currently in close collaboration with emerging artists Volta Collective in Los Angeles and Company [REDACTED] in NYC. Avery continues to build a body of repertoire with Motlee Party alongside her practice as performer, dramaturg, writer, and producer.

  • TSHEDZOM TINGKHYE

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, DRAMATURG

    Tshedzom (she/her) Tshedzom is a first-generation Tibetan artist who merges dance, film, and story to highlight the intersections between people, society, and nature. Originally from Seattle, she grew up moving at Creative Dance Center and later explored the local scene by working with Etienne Cakpo, Veronica Lee-Baik, LROD, Wade Madsen, and Maya Soto. Her creative process is influenced by her upbringing which is rooted in Tibetan Buddhism + philosophy, social ecology, and her training in music. Tshedzom’s work has been presented at The Brooklyn Museum, Dance Film Lab, Kaleidoscope Dance Company, Pacific MusicWorks, Tibet Fest, and Tibet Film Festival. She is currently working with Alice Gosti in Malacarne, Skye Hughes, and the Rubin Museum of Art partnered with Marina Abramović Institute.

  • INDIA HOBBS

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, DRAMATURG

    India (she/her) is a Chicago-born artist and graduate of Boston Conservatory. While in school, India had the opportunity to perform works by Loni Landon, Catherine Coury, Martha Nichols, and Mark Morris. She has attended programs at Alonzo King Lines Ballet, Kyle Abraham A.I.M, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and The Rock School. In 2021, India notably performed in the Open Call Exhibition at The Shed with installation artist, LeAndra Leseaur. She has also performed with Haus of PVMNT, led by Christopher Kinsey and Maggie Costales. India currently dances with GALLIM in addition to Motlee Party from her base of Brooklyn, New York.

  • PEYTON GERHARDT

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER

    Peyton (she/her) began her dance journey with Léon Dance Arts under Dorrell Martin. With Léon, she built a strong relationship with choreographers Andrea Ward, Mike Esperanza, and A’Drey Vinogradov. She furthered her pre-professional training at The Institute of Contemporary Dance in Houston, where she worked with Marlana Doyle, Genene Wallis-McGrath, Robbie Moore, and Taylor Mitchell. Peyton has choreographed two duets: Chiaroscuro and Seeking Asylum. Her passion for improvisation is what sparked her involvement in the arts and has led to opportunities with Cypress Dance Project, the ICA Boston, and Match Midtown Arts. Peyton continues to create work in Norman, Oklahoma, where she teaches Hip Hop and performs with OU Afrobeatz.

  • DYLAN CONTRERAS

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, DRAMATURG

    Dylan (he/they) is a Brooklyn-based dancer and interdisciplinary creator. Dylan augmented their technique by studying ballet at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts. He continued his training at The Boston Conservatory where he received a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance. Dylan has performed works by Doug Varone, Juel D. Lane, and Dam Van Hyunh. He premiered his film My Baby Chest Hairs after receiving a grant from 305 Fitness in 2020. Dylan currently collaborates with Motlee Party, Hivewild, and Haus of Pavement from New York City. 

    I dance for every little Black boy who longs to see someone who looks like them doing the thing they love most in the world.

  • TY MORRISON

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER

    Ty (he/him) is from the greater Boston area where he trained in dance for 13 years at The Gold School under the direction of Rennie Gold. Ty received a BFA from The Boston Conservatory as a student on full scholarship. During his time there, he worked with artists Darrell Moultrie, Catherine Coury, Bradley Shelver, Adrianne Hawkins, and Martha Nichols. After graduating, he was featured in various on-site dance film productions with choreographers Roderick George, Ashley Lindsay, and Antonio Brown. He has acted as a guest artist with Limón Dance Company and remains an active performer with little house dance company and BODYTRAFFIC in Los Angeles. Ty continues to expand his portfolio by collaborating with freelance artists and creating with Motlee Party.

  • JUSTIN DANIELS

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER

    Atlanta native Justin Daniels embarked on his artistic journey at Tri-Cities High School's Visual & Performing Arts Program. He holds a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance with a minor in Psychology from The Boston Conservatory and Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. Now based in New York, Justin works as a dance artist, choreographer, and photographer represented by BLOC. Justin has worked with Grammy award winning artists Jon Batiste as well as Serpentwithfeet on the recent “Heart of Brick.” Additionally, he has collaborated with Dance Lab New York, Kampnagel Summer Festival, Kaatsban, and Turnpark Summer Dance Festival. Featured in magazines DanceItalia! (Spring,2021’) and VoyageATL (Spring, 22’), Justin is committed to exploring and expanding the collectiveness of concert, commercial, and digital dance spaces.

  • CHLOE CHUA

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER

    Chloe (she/her) was born in Singapore, in 1998. At age 3, she started her dance journey at Attitude Performing Arts Studio under the tutelage of Donato C. Ferrer. She went on to pursue her passion at School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA) from 2011 to 2016, graduating as one of the top scorers in the International Baccalaureate Career-related program. Recently, Chloe earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance Performance from The Boston Conservatory. To enrich her dance education, she attended dance intensives at Juilliard (2016), Batsheva Dance Company (2017/2018), and Nuova Officina Della Danza (2019). In an environment where interdisciplinary possibilities are endless, Chloe enjoys building connections and collaborating with artists from other art forms.

  • GEORGIE JOHNSON

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, DRAMATURG

    Georgie (they/them) is a circus and movement artist. Born and raised in New York, they have traveled far and wide in order to collect and accumulate their experience of movement, circus, and stage-work. They began circus in Nyack, NY, and graduated from New England Center for Circus Arts in Vermont in 2016. Georgie studied at Accademia Dell’Arte and received their Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Oberlin College before attending FLIC Scuola di Circo in Italy. They are currently based in Chambéry, France, pursuing an artistic formation at the FFEC school Arc en Cirque. Georgie has worked as a performer, collaborator, choreographer, and director within a variety of works ranging from staged pieces to installation-work, immersive theater, and film. They have participated in festivals such as CircusNext (FR), American Dance Festival (US), Atoll Festival (DE), Berlin Circus Festival (DE), Peculiar Families Festival (HRV), and Asheville Fringe Festival (US).

  • COLE STAPLETON

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER, DRAMATURG

    Cole (they/them) is a dance artist and choreographer living in Queens. They graduated from NYU in 2019 and co-founded Company [REDACTED] with Mimi Doan in 2020. Since its inception, Company [REDACTED] has presented work at Performance Space NY, Movement Research at Judson Church and The Center for Performance Research within NYC. The company has also been invited to international residencies and festivals including Implustanz in Vienna, KulturFactory in Naples and Paris, and Nos Envera in Buenos Aires. Outside of their work with the company, Cole is a durational performer for Kat Brown and a regular contributor at Hobby Horse Press focusing on queer fiction.

  • TALIA STERN

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER

    Talia (she/her) has a deep passion for movement. Before joining Motlee Party, Talia trained in programs with Shannon Gillen, Bobbi Jene Smith, Shamel Pitts, Micaela Taylor, Summer Lee Rhatigan, Lali Ayguade, Alice Klock, and Florian Lochner. She has had the opportunity to create work and research her own individual movement at The Boston Conservatory where she earned a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance. Her newest evening-length work, FIVE, premiered in April of 2022. In the wake of graduation, Talia moved to London where she worked with Jasmin Vardimon Company for a season. She now works as a freelance artist in Berlin, alongside her involvement in Motlee Party, where she teaches yoga and improvisation. Talia’s experiences continue to shape the open mindedness and unique qualities of her work and philosophy.

  • PAUL LIU

    CHOREOGRAPHER, PERFORMER

    Paul (he/him) is a Taiwanese American movement artist with a focus in floorwork and acrobatic movement. Paul grew up in New Jersey and trained in traditional Chinese dance and acrobatics with the Nai-Ni Chen Youth Dance Company. He later studied Western dance techniques at the Academy of Dance Arts New Jersey before attending Boston Conservatory and Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. Paul has performed works by Peter Leung, Aszure Barton, and Avery Gerhardt. He is a former guest artist of Fukudance and Hybridmotion and joined Pilobolus Dance Theatre from 2019-2023 as a dancer and social media manager. Paul continues to create with a variety of artists in movement research including Volta Collective by Mamie Green and Motlee Party. He also edits and creates music and soundscapes for movement.
